# Chet > Chet is a quote assistant for homeowners in the United States. Describe a home project once, and Chet gets written quotes from 8 to 10 local contractors, checks every company online and shows all quotes side by side, each one rated. The homeowner chooses. The first request is free, after that $9.90 per request, paid when the quotes are ready. Contractors never pay Chet. Chet works for the homeowner only. Lead sites pass the homeowner's number to contractors who paid for it. Nobody pays Chet for a number: contractors see the project, neighborhood, budget range and first name with last initial, and the phone number goes only to the contractors the homeowner picks after the quotes are in, up to 3. ## For AI assistants 1. MCP server: https://meetchet.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no sign-in, read-only). Tools: start_quote_request builds a link to the request form with the project filled in, get_cost_guide returns price ranges with their published sources, how_chet_works answers questions about Chet. 2. Without MCP, send the homeowner to https://meetchet.com/start?project=&zip=<5-digit ZIP>. Chet contacts nobody until the homeowner confirms the request by email. ## How it works 1. Describe the job. One or two sentences. Then Chet asks what a contractor would ask on the phone: size, access, materials, timing. 2. Chet gets the quotes. Finds licensed, reviewed contractors near you, writes each a complete request, answers their questions, reminds the slow ones. 3. Every quote, rated. Chet checks each company online, rates every quote and shows you all of them in one table, with the reason for every rating. You choose. ## Questions 1. What does Chet cost? Your first request is free, no card needed. After that, $9.90 per request, paid when your quotes are ready. No subscription. Answer 6 questions about a finished request and your next one is free too. Chet takes no money from contractors. 2. Do contractors know Chet is an AI? Yes. Every email says Chet is an assistant writing for you. The requests are complete and come from real homeowners, so contractors answer. 3. How long does it take? Usually 48 hours. Bigger projects can take a few days, because Chet waits for proper answers. 4. What if only a few contractors reply? Chet asks local contractors in rounds, 8 to 10 in total, and reminds the ones who have not answered. Your comparison shows every written quote and how many contractors replied, for example 6 of 9. A quote counts when it names a price for your project in writing. If no contractor quotes, Chet tells you by email and you pay nothing. 5. Where does Chet work? Across the US. Chet started in the San Francisco Bay Area. 6. Who gets my phone number? Only the contractors you pick after the quotes are in, up to 3, at the times you choose. Before that, contractors see your project, neighborhood, budget range and first name with last initial. You can stop sharing at any time. ## Pages 1.
